Plant propagation Department
Plant Propagation Department is one of the major departments that are directly involved with the product development and production of our laboratory. The department is compartmented and equipped with especial equipments that are required to meet the purposes which are expected from it. There are three types of rooms which are found in the plant propagation department which are Entrance Gallery, Aseptic Transfer room and Growth Room .
Entrance Gallery: this room is used for washing hands and legs aseptically and also for gowning as well as De-gowning of lab coats. It is equipped with lockers, shelves, water lines, hand dryers, drainage system and double door system to reduce contaminants from entering to the laboratory from the external environment. Totally there are about 26 rooms under this classification.
Aseptic Transfer room :this room is the only room from the lab direct contact or manipulation with the product is made and it is the most cleanest area of the laboratory it is equipped with class 100 Laminar Air Flow Cabinet Hood which inter has built in HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter which is 99.99% efficient ,Uv light which is used to Sterilize the Laminar Air Flow Cabinet Hood using radiation and Glass Bead Sterilizer it is used to sterilized metallic equipments such as Forceps ,Scalpels and Stands that are used for operation, it heats up from 250 oc-300oc.the major Activities that are conducted in this room are Initiation ,Multiplication and rooting. While data recording and other office work are done in supervisor office. Totally we have 16 rooms under this classification.
Growth Room: the main purpose of this room is to incubate and maintain cultures which are at different developmental stages mainly initiation, Multiplication and rooting. This is unique from the other rooms because its environment is strictly controlled. The environmental conditions that are controlled are temperature, Relative Humidity and Different aspects of light (Quality, Intensity and photo period) as per plant requirement and developmental stages. Major Activities that are conducted in this room are control of Environmental condition, Culture checking, culture verification, recording and discarding contaminated cultures. Totally we have 16 rooms under this classification.
